refuge space available, mainly in the London area. They can offer support
and advise about your options. The line is often busy, but keep trying.

Social Services - contact your Local Authority
If you have concerns about a child or a family
who may be experiencing domestic violence or abuse, you can contact your
local social services department. You can find the telephone number for
the Local Authority in the phone book.
The Police - contact your local station
The police often have a Community Safety Unit or
specialist domestic violence unit that responds to calls. They may also
have information on local services for women and children experiencing
domestic violence. Only ring 999 if you are in immediate danger. For all
other enquiries contact your local station, the number will be in the
phone book.
Welfare Benefits - contact your local DSS
For your local Benefits Agency please look in the
phone book
Housing - contact your local Council
If you are a council or housing association tenant
please contact your local authority. If you need to leave your home please
contact your housing department's Homeless Persons Unit.

If you need a solicitor for an injunction, occupation
order, contact issues or any other services contact The Law Society. They
can give you information about the solicitors in your area and they can
also advise you about which solicitors apply for legal aid. Please note
that they cannot give individual legal advice.
